How drunk do you have to be to get cut off by the cabin crew? Well Mr. 1A on my flight from London City to JFK last week found out. A couple of selfish passengers made this one of the most unpleasant flights I have taken in a long time.
Two flights with european carrier, Finnair were great with the exception of an over-entitled fellow passenger. It prompted a couple of questions of flying etiquette….
With Copenhagen being a fortress Star Alliance member SAS, the lounge offering for non-SAS passengers are pretty thin. Finnair uses two different lounges. On my recent visit I chose the Aspire Lounge, a short walk from the A gates used by the airline.

BA’s little lounge at City fits the BA baby bus service to JFK, via Shannon. But a great crew and some tasty food made it a flight to remember.
BA has a scheme for Small and Medium businesses allowing them to earn points separate from their travellers who earn their normal points. The scheme has been switched to a revenue based scheme and got markedly less generous. However, there is a way to secure a 5% discount on BA fares, by giving up your OnBuiness points. Worth taking in my view. The scheme has decent availability – better than Avios from what I can see. However, you have to book upgrades at the ticket of ticketing at their web site, and it doesn’t offer the cheapest fare when upgrading.
Business Class from Europe is not very often cheaper than Coach but for selected dates in the summer and later in the year, the business fare from Dublin is cheaper than the Economy fare from London. Get buying.
BA’s web site is trailing that they are launching a premium cabin fare sale at 11:30 BST today. Check out their web site then…

At one time there were three or four all business airlines flying from London to the USA. They all ended after September 11 and it’s nice to see a new entrant in this market to compete with the big airlines flying from Heathrow or City. I did enjoy the trip, especially a good solid 6 hours of sleep on the way back.
