Heresy: I prefer Business to First on AA’s Transcontinental Service

ByMiles From Blighty April 30, 2015

Having flown on the AA three class service from JFK to LAX in First, I was pleased to try and out the Business Class cabin. In truth it’s a pretty good experience which I found to be good, or slightly better than First.

Hyatt Regency Waikiki – the old lady’s had a makeover.

It’s been a couple of years since I visited this property. With attractive airfares from Dublin, and renovation of the rooms underway, it was too good a chance to miss.

    Hotel Review: The Ritz-Carlton Kyoto

ByHungry for Points April 28, 2015

This hotel review could easily be summed up in a single sentence – The Ritz-Carlton Kyoto is one of the best hotels that I’ve ever stayed at, and I would be absolutely shocked if it didn’t soon ascend into the rankings of “Best Hotels In the World”. But as tempting as it is to drop the mic and walk away, what’s a trip report without a few pictures? We arrived at Kyoto Station in the late afternoon, and while the hotel is semi-walkable from the station (25-30 minutes), we had our luggage with us and instead jumped in a taxi. The traffic around the river was backed up, and it took 30 frustrating minutes and more than $20 to get to the hotel.

OMG: I scored an upgrade at the Radisson Dublin Airport

ByMiles From Blighty April 28, 2015

Unreliable upgrades for Gold Members of Club Carlson mark most of my visits to the Radisson at Dublin Airport. However, on this stay just before Easter I secured a key to a much vaulted Business Class Room.

A quick visit to the JFK Concorde Room

ByMiles From Blighty April 27, 2015

The BA Concorde Room at JFK is a haven for passengers travelling First Class with BA to London. With its own sit down restaurant and waiter service it reminds me of the Cathay Lounges at Hong Kong, except it’s usually quieter as you have to score 5,000 Tier Points for an admission card or else be flying First.

Fat And Furious: Living The Onsen Life In Matsuyama

ByHungry for Points April 27, 2015

The most common question we received about our trip to Japan was “which cities are you visiting?” And while most people expected to hear Tokyo and Kyoto, we usually got a puzzled look when we mentioned the 3rd city on our itinerary, Matsuyama. Matsuyama is the largest city and capital of Ehime Prefecture located on the island of Shikoku and is know for onsen, or hot springs, and udon noodles.
