Review: Qantas Lounge at Hong Kong International Airport
The remodelled Qantas Lounge at Hong Kong is nice enough – just not very ‘special’

The redesigned ‘The Pier’ First Class lounge at HKG is a new concept in airport lounges with high quality design and execution. Worth a visit if you can.
The No.1 Traveller Lounge at Gatwick Airport’s South Terminal offers a stylish and modern retreat for travelers. With a variety of zones to relax, complimentary food and drinks, and stunning runway views, it provides a comfortable pre-flight experience. Open daily, the lounge is easily accessible after security.
Between the negative reviews of British Airways’ Business Class product on Flyertalk and the fact that they made me pay to select seats in advance, I didn’t have high expectations for my flights to Zurich. The final verdict after my round-trip? I really, really liked my flights, and it was all because of the seat, which was so comfortable that I was able to sleep like a baby for 7-8 hours each way. That simply does not happen for a light-sleeping insomniac like myself.
The review of the Bolero Executive Lounge at Warsaw highlights its basic offerings and shared space with multiple airlines. While it provides clean bathrooms and a place to grab a drink, the limited food options and lack of entertainment make it less appealing, especially for those expecting more from a business class lounge experience.
Hyatt has shown so little love for its frequent guests this year that they’ve lost my vote in the Freddies.
Thanksgiving is my favorite time of the year to travel for a couple reasons. Firstly, while other holidays rotate around, there’s no guessing which days you’ll have off for Thanksgiving – it’s a 4-day weekend every single year. Secondly, while domestic travel during Thanksgiving week can be a nightmare, it’s the perfect time to travel internationally. As an added bonus, you can essentially bank on the fact that there will be a premium cabin sales each year which means that you can fly in style, most often to Europe, for a fraction of the normal price.
BA has launched an app designed for iPad and it’s pretty smart.
I’m one of the charter members of the “Korean Air Fan Club” and in recent years have been funneling the vast majority of my Chase Ultimate Rewards points into the Korean Air Skypass program. I’m planning a trip to Asia later this year, and decided to finally cash in those Skypass miles. I blocked off an hour of time to go through the incredibly confusing and annoying award booking experience that I remembered from 2014, but to my surprise, I had confirmed tickets in my account in less than 10 minutes.
Turkish Airlines offers a unique business class experience on its Istanbul to Warsaw route, featuring ample food and attentive service despite the use of coach seating with an empty middle seat. While the lack of entertainment may be a drawback, the overall comfort and amenities make for a pleasant short flight.
Blacklane offers a reliable solution for airport transfers, providing pre-booked rides with professional drivers in over fifty countries. With a range of vehicle options and fixed pricing, travelers can avoid the stress of last-minute arrangements and enjoy a seamless journey from the airport.
A pre-Christmas flight to JFK, upgraded with Avios, onboard my least favourite BA plane, was perfectly fine. Yes, ‘fine’.
