Green, Green, Green came the cry from Jake/Thad/Noah wanting yet another macaroon from the selection of food available in the small lounge at London City Airport. No one said anything as the cry got louder, not even his parents. Poor Jake/Thad/Noah, aged 3, got a discussion with his father about sharing, before being given another macaroon.
It had been a good travel day until we were bussed to the plan on hottest day of the year, took a thirty minute delay and were then told that there was no food. Another day on British Airways it seems.
Heathrow’s Terminal 1 closes for business next week and BA is moving its few remaining flights to other terminals on the 30th June. In October, several long haul destinations switch from T5 to T3. Yours?
t’s been fun being a featured blogger this week on BoardingArea! To wrap things up, in case you missed it here’s a summary of the top posts from the past week. Just a note that you can still find Hungry for Points on the Prior2Boarding site, and the best way to keep up-to-date on the latest updates by adding me on Twitter or Facebook (or by using the buttons on the right-hand side) and feel free to drop me an email anytime!
Last week, there were some great Business Class deals floating around for travel to Europe later this year and even into next year. It seems like the East Coast gets the majority of the European deals, but this wave included departures from the West Coast (SFO and LAX) on either American Airlines or British Airways as low as $2,100. While I’m never keen to transfer via London’s Heathrow airport, I was able to knock an additional $400 off the price by booking with British Airways and utilizing the AARP discount, so it was a no-brainer to choose BA over AA.
It could be called a backpacker ticket, but perhaps glamflying would be better – well it’s in World Traveller Plus which is a little nicer than World Traveller.
Finland, whilst more than 2 hours flying time from London offers some very attractive Business Class fares to the USA. Selected dates through 2016 offer JFK for just over £1000 round trip.
It looks like there might be a bug in the BA app for iOS. Anyone else got the same problem?
The best laid plans can blow up when an airline makes even a modest schedule change. A trip in August (which I have had booked since November) imploded when a one minute shortfall in connecting times caused AA to drop the rest of my flights. Catching it in time, and having a plan about how I wanted it fixed, saved a lot of grief and a shed load of Tier Points.
BA’s little lounge at City fits the BA baby bus service to JFK, via Shannon. But a great crew and some tasty food made it a flight to remember.
