Can a crew make or break a flight? Sometimes, but on this trip from JFK to LAX, the real problem was the weather. A 100 minute delay on the ground at JFK didn’t help the crews disposition.

With Copenhagen being a fortress Star Alliance member SAS, the lounge offering for non-SAS passengers are pretty thin. Finnair uses two different lounges. On my recent visit I chose the Aspire Lounge, a short walk from the A gates used by the airline.

The Concourse Hotel at LAX revisited
The old Radisson at LAX has become a Hyatt affiliate hotel and so earns stay credits with Gold Passport, my must have frequent stay scheme. A last minute booking secured both a great rate and a good upgrade to a suite on the top floor. The hotel does a great job at protecting you from aircraft noise and run a good shuttle to and from the airport. Well worth considering if you need a stay in the LAX area.

Running a free shuttle to and from JFK makes this property typical of those at JFK. That it is slightly better than average is an indication of how poor the other options are here. A review of the Executive Club at the Hilton is included.
